Come join in the fun and watch us grow!
In June of 1958, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) transferred this beautiful 31-acre lakefront site to the Town of Spring City for the enjoyment of the recreating public on Watts Bar Lake in Rhea County, Tennessee. As with many other similar public land transfers by TVA in the 1940’s and 1950’s, these land parcels were to provide lake access and promote recreation and tourism for local communities across the Tennessee Valley Authority’s seven-state region.
Over the years it became obvious that the local governments would need to lease these lakefront properties to commercial operators to facilitate improvements for the recreating public. For nearly 50 years, the Spring City Boat Dock has provided a rich history of lake-oriented recreation. Hundreds of families from across the East Tennessee region have enriched their children’s and grandchildren’s lives through long summer days of boating, fishing, swimming and picnicking on this beautiful, protected cove just 3 miles from downtown Spring City.
In 2005, the Spring City Development, LLC (SCD) partnership was formed to purchase the assets from the existing operators and accept the leasehold interest from the Town of Spring City. The SCD partners and the Town of Spring City have formalized the continued free access and use of the TWRA boat launching area and fishing pier. To continue the rich heritage of public and commercial use at Spring City Dock, SCD is committed to working with our city, county and other partners to make substantial improvements to the docking, dinning, lodging and other potential amenities. We will be hosting and sponsoring many upcoming events to enrich the year round fun that this resort and marina complex can provide for our friends, neighbors and visitors.
